SEO Phone Applications

We all remember the hyped up Internet boom that transpired nearly a decade ago and with the invention of smartphones and mobile application platforms, I believe we are amidst the start of the newest boom: the mobile phone boom.

When smartphones were first created, they were looked at as an exclusive phone that altered the world's mobile phone experience, Smartphones allowed users to do so much more than just making phone calls. Fast forward to today, smart phones have evolved into a mobile application platform where user's can access virtually anything through their mobile device. Smartphones, such as the iPhone and the android offer an unlimited amount of functionality that consumers have never before seen.

The capabilities of smartphones have become practically limitless with mobile applications that allow consumers to do everything from reading books, editing photos, playing interactive games, listening to music, accessing gps navigation, and so much more.

In 2009, Apple CEO, Steve Jobs, announced that "The App Store is like nothing the industry has ever seen before in both scale and quality. With 1.5 billion apps downloaded, it is going to be very hard for others to catch up."

And now almost a year later, over 2 billion applications have been downloaded through the Apple App Store alone. However, there are various other application stores available to consumers including the Android Market, Windows Mobile Marketplace and Blackberry App World.

Mobile applications are literally paving the way for companies to generate a ton of sales and revenue. The main reason developers all over the world are calling mobile apps a "gold rush" is because companies of all sizes can greatly flourish by creating mobile applications.

Big companies like Pizza Hut, Fandango, Starbucks, and all released mobile applications that allow consumers to place orders directly through the app on their mobile phone, resulting in a sales spike for all of those companies because of the ease and simplicity in which consumers can place their orders. Mobile applications allow the world to access things at the touch of a button, and that's why they are so successful.

However, large companies are not the only ones prospering with this mobile boom. Developers of a mobile game application reported that they made a whopping $750,000 in just three short weeks, while a mobile crossword puzzle application developer claimed to be making an astonishing $14,000 per week with the creation of their mobile application. .

Last year, it was reported that the Android Market was pulling in $60 million dollars per year in revenue from mobile apps while consumers downloaded $2.4 billion dollars worth of applications at the Apple App Store. In addition, it is estimated that by 2012, consumers will have downloaded over 50 billion applications and spent $17.5 million dollars on mobile applications.

Statistics such as these have motivated an eruption of developers who are hoping to cash in on this newfound mobile boom.
